A major city in Chile, about an hour and a half drive from Santiago. It’s a seaport but also a major educational centre in Chile and is the third largest area in the country. But more importantly its historic quarter was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, it was one of the homes of Pablo Neruda, and was quoted in many many sailor songs, all of them dreaming of reaching the Jewel of the Pacific.

Getting up and down the hills can be quite strenuous but Valparaiso is full of funiculars to help you get up and down. You just need to have faith in them!
