Roberton Island – Where James Cook made land

On 29 November 1769, Lt. James Cook and his ship, the Endeavour, while rounding Roberton Island, thought they saw a whale and followed it. In fact it was an underwater rock which the ship hit and hence had to stop and make repairs! Well if he saw what I saw he may have wanted to stay there longer! But he went on to bigger and better things, leaving the place for us to admire!
