A walk around the temples of Koh Ker with a young monk
Jayavarman IV and the brief capital
Koh Ker was once the capital of the Khmer Empire. It also marks the apogee of Khmer statue sculpting. Unfortunately most them have been destroyed or pillaged, so all that is left is some great temples, big and small, and many many mines. This is definitely one area where you have to stick to the beaten path….
We walked around the temples with a young monk who studies at a nearby monastery. To say his eyes are intense is an understatement, I think!
