Remote temples during rainy season
Bring you wellies or walk bare foot!
Rainy season in Cambodia is just that: rainy and wet! Banteay Ampil is really off the beaten track, and rarely gets any visitors, at least not in any number. I have been there 3 times, and only saw people once. Though a road has been built to access the temple, the rains decided otherwise and cut off car access to the temple. A three km wet and muddy walk later we arrived, and boy is it worth it!
A little gem of a temple, Banteay Ampil can be visited fairly rapidly so it is definitely not a choice location if you are not in Siem Reap for a long time. But I would say that it is more than worth it anyway!
Walking around the gates of Angkor Thom provides for really nice afternoon, pretty much away from the crowds if you go the right way! Up to you to figure out what that way is!
