Milford Sounds

Or as the locals, rightly, call it, a fjord

You may be at the end of the road, there are many things to do in Milford Sounds, a cruise, kayaking, scuba diving, tramping… In fact one of the more beautiful walks in New Zealand is a 4 day walk from Te Anau to Milford Sound. It is not easy, nor is it for everyone, but the smiles on the people’s faces when they arrive tell the story, it must be breathtaking.

I chose the easier version, the cruise. It may be a very tourist thing to do, yet the sights are awesome, in the true sense of the word. Yes the weather was gray, yes you are surrounded by other people, but you just feel so small surrounded by nature that it is worth it, many times over. And you get to spend a night at the Milford Sound Lodge with not a man made sound reaching your ears and with a view to a kill, as they say. The story is in the pictures and in the memories, the crested penguin and the rainbows…
